Director Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) General Captain Musa Nuhu revealed that new and existing domestic air operators would now be required to sign a tripartite agreement providing for a ticket sales fee (TSC ) and Cargo Selling Charges (CSC) to be automatically deducted at source to prevent airlines from increasing their debt.
Nuhu made this known during an interactive session with the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in its Lagos office, saying the payment condition is linked to the issuance and renewal of the line operator certificate. Airline (AOC) to new and existing operators in the country.
“What we have done now is if you come, we are not going to give you an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) until you sign the Tripartite Agreement for the Automatic Deduction of Fees for avoid all the problems so we don’t start arguing after six months. If you also renew, we make sure you have to have it signed, ”Nuhu said. Regarding domestic airline debts, Nuhu said the NCAA understands that airlines are going through tough times and, therefore, would not force them to pay their debts immediately. He revealed, however, that the agency had worked out plans in agreement with the operators on how to pay the debts without causing problems for all concerned.
