The Great British Bake Off presents the line-up
Great British Bake Off fans are drooling over the prospect of the show’s return to television tonight.
Former winner John Whaite, 32, dazzled viewers this weekend when he emerged as one half of Strictly Come Dancing’s very first all-male couple. He’s just one of the Bake Off champions still in the limelight.
Here – in our look at all the winners since the first round in 2010 – we see how the popularity of some has continued to increase.
But there was a lot of adversity too …
Edd Kimber – 2010

Edd, still only 35, was GBBO’s first winner in 2010. He quit his job as a debt collector to write cookbooks. Edd has published four of them, including One Tin Bakes.
He has accumulated 388,000 subscribers on social networks, where he presents his recipes.
Edd was the resident baker of the Alan Titchmarsh Show and ran a bakery in the upscale Fortnum & Mason department store.
Joanne Wheatley – 2011
A housewife when competing, Joanne went on to publish two cookbooks, write a column for Sainsbury’s magazine and appear in programs such as The One Show.
The 52-year-old from Essex now has her own website, Jo’s Blue Aga. Shortly after winning the GBBO, it was revealed that her husband Richard was serving a seven-year prison sentence for money laundering. We think they’re still together.

John went on to study for his pastry diploma from the Parisian school Le Cordon Bleu.
He has also published four cookbooks, co-hosted ITV’s Chopping Block, and in 2015 launched John Whaite’s Cooking School in a converted barn.
In 2018, he announced his intention to resume his legal career, but currently appears on Strictly.
Frances Quinn – 2013

A children’s clothing designer before winning in 2013, the 39-year-old wrote a best-selling cookbook titled Quintessential Baking and even appeared in Vogue.
Frances took to Celebrity Pointless and set the record for the world’s largest Jaffa cake in 2017. But last year it was revealed that she was banned from Waitrose after being charged with shoplifting. the low.
Nancy Birtwhistle – 2014

At 60, Nancy was the oldest GBBO winner to date. The former general practitioner and grandmother of eight who retired in 2007, said her earnings after increasing the Bake Off cake stand have “well” supplemented her NHS pension.
Nadiya Hussein – 2015

Considered the most successful Bake Off contestant, Nadiya, 36, is now valued at £ 3.7million thanks to her work as a TV presenter and author.
She hosted shows The Chronicles of Nadiya and Nadiya’s British Food Adventure was chosen to bake the Queen’s 90th birthday cake in 2016 and was awarded an MBE last year.
Candice Brown – 2016

Former physical education teacher Candice, 36, was valued at £ 1million the year after her victory. She appeared on Dancing on Ice in 2018 and won Celebrity Mastermind in 2019.
She toppled husband Liam Macaulay in 2020, describing it as her toughest year as her pub The Green Man in Bedfordshire also struggled.
Sophie Faldo – 2017

The army officer, who served in Afghanistan, changed careers after his victory.
She started Sophie Faldo Couture Cakes, but says she made more money before GBBO and went through “dark times”.
She said: “I had to remember what was important to me.”
Rahul Mandal – 2018

The 34-year-old returned to being an engineering researcher at the University of Sheffield and, unusually, has not written a book on baking.
But he was on This Morning and wrote a column in a newspaper. His 100-ingredient cake is a world record.
David Atherton – 2019

David, 38, was controversial as the only winner to never be a star baker during his tenure on the show. He was an international health adviser when he went to GBBO.
He has written a column on diet for fitness and My First Cookbook for kids.
Peter Sawkins – 2020

One in six Britons is believed to have seen Peter, now 21, become the youngest all-time winner last year. Peter is still in the process of completing his accounting and finance degree at the University of Edinburgh, where he is also president of the university’s badminton society.
He’s about to release his first Peter Bakes cookbook, with twists on the classics as well as some traditional Scottish recipes.
